Crucified Life Ministries (CLM) was founded by Jean Stephens and her husband Elmer (Steve) Stephens in 1989. Elmer Stephens was an evangelist and the pair traveled across the United States and other countries spreading the word of God.

Jean began a mission ministry in Mexico and over the years it spread to Central and South America. Jean traveled with other ministries providing medical and spiritual needs to the people in Latin America.

In 2004, Jean felt impressed of the Holy Spirit to depart from other Ministries and focus only on the tiny country of El Salvador (ES).

Jean began taking groups to minister to the people of ES. She began noticing the needs of the children who were not attending school. After investigating, she learned that children in ES cannot attend school unless they have a uniform, proper shoes, and supplies. She was challenged with the idea of asking people in the United States to sponsor students to provide these needs.

Beginning with 16 students in 2004, the ministry has grown tremendously to sponsoring up to 200+ students at a time. We currently have about 50 students in the program.

In 2009, God impressed upon Jean's daughter, Cathi Whitehead, to start The William McDonald Foundation to Feed the Hungry (WMF).

With the help of one of our pastors in ES, Rafael Madrid, Cathi started the WMF Ministry with just one family - providing them with food monthly. The WMF currently has 37 families that we provide food for, monthly, with the help of sponsors in the United States.

In March 2010, Jean's husband, Elmer, passed away. With the help of her daughter, three of her grandchildren, and others, she has been able to continue the work that she and her husband began over 30 years ago.

In 2021, Jean retired from CLM with her daughter, Cathi, stepping in as President and Director. Jean still serves as a member of the board as an advisor.
